Wilbourn Associates from Sheffield has become the first chartered environmental surveyors in Yorkshire to be recognised with the Investors in People standard – and it has already led to a major new contract.
Wilbourn Associates specialises in the impact of contamination and environmental risk and its relationship to land property and construction. It has also produced over 1.25 million professional opinions on environmental risk for homeowners. Based at the Jessops Riverside business park by the River Don at Meadowhall, the company was introduced to Investors in People by Business Link South Yorkshire.
“Since we have worked with Business Link South Yorkshire, we have increased our workforce by over 30% and now we employ 17 people,“ said Kate Leggott, Practice Manager. ”By using the Investors in People standard, we have been able to focus the development of staff in line with where the company needs to be in the future.”
Working towards the standard helped Wilbourn Associates put together an action plan, which has resulted in improvements in business planning, communication, performance management and training.
“We have recently been awarded a major contract which we believe to be a direct result of using Investors in People to improve our business practices,» said Kate.
